There is no book yet

There is an essay, at v1, with six objections on the docket and a definition that one of them says fails outright. A book would be roughly eight times this length and would have to answer all of it.

I intend to write it. I have no publisher, no contract and no date, and I am not going to invent one to make this page feel more finished than the work is.

What I can declare: every version of this essay is published here free, the docket records what changed and why, and if a book happens you will hear it here first.

Tell me when it changes

One message per version. No payment, nothing to cancel, and no other mail. The second field is optional and it is the one I actually read, because a list of two hundred people I can identify is worth more than five thousand I cannot.

Why there is no preorder

A preorder is a declared expectation with a delivery date attached. I cannot state a date, and a promise with no date is a declaration engineered so that it can never be observed to have missed. That is the second item on this essay's own list of known weaknesses, and I am not going to run it on this page.
